Well the big day has come – today I woke up and turned 50!! Actually, I also turned 50 last night in the UK, so I’ve had a 31 hour birthday.
Thank you to everyone who has sent cards, gifts or messages. I’m on my second glass of champagne, so forgive me if none of the following makes sense!! Shortly we are off to Desert Bistro, a local restaurant, for dinner – it’s supposed to be the best restaurant in town and we have been told to eat all three courses. It’s also our last night in Moab before we move onto Monument Valley, where we are booked into a hotel with no in-room internet connection but an amazing view of sunrise and sunset. Unfortunately, according to the latest forecast, cloud is predicted. Still, it could be worse …… remember our foggy pics of the Grand Canyon??!!!!
Today we went back to Canyonlands to do the Needles loop. It took 90 minutes to get there, but was worth it. We had most of the place to ourselves for the majority of the day, and the weather forecast was wrong – we should have had cloud and wind, but instead had a full day of sunshine at just the right temperature. Here are a few pics from today …. more red rock and more panoramic views. We also saw some petroglyphs, which are cavemen drawings, and an old cowboy hideout. Mike is having a ‘first world problem’ in trying to get all the scenery into a shot.
