Well we’ve been in Moab for a day now and are really enjoying it. Last night we went to a restaurant called Twisted Sistas and had a lovely meal.
We woke up to a fine morning, nice and warm, and not a cloud in the sky. After breakfast, we stopped off to pick up some lunch from a local cafe, then spent the morning driving along Scenic Byway 128 (slightly preferable to driving up the A128, nice as Brentwood is) which follows the Colorado River. We stopped off along the way and did a short hike, criss-crossing a stream which was good fun.
After eating lunch we went to do another hike, but the weather was too hot and the pathway too exposed, so we knocked that on the head and turned back. The scenery though was fantastic… these photos don’t do it justice, but you get the idea.
We passed the Castle Creek Winery and thought it would be rude not to stop by, and we did a wine tasting, coming away with four bottles. They had some lovely old cars there too.
From the winery, we made the short drive to Arches National Park. We’ll spend a day here later in the week, but we had a quick look around to get our bearings. From the park, you get a good view of the snow-capped La Sal mountains on the Utah/Colorado border.
That’s all for now folks, dinner beckons… we’ll be going to an Italian restaurant tonight.
